DIY flannel baby wipes & Family cloth. Quick and easy Sewing Tutorial and soap solution recipe.

Here it is! My first blog EVER!

Are you still wasting money of disposable wipes?
Have you seen the nasty chemicals that they contain?

If you use cloth diapers, it only makes sense to use cloth wipes. If it grosses you out to use cloth wipes.... Get over it. They work so much much better and you can use any cute design!

Okay. Sooo you have a couple decisions to make. The size and color of wipes you want.  You will also need a place to store them (I use an old disposable wipe container). Last, you will need to decide how many wipes you want to make. That was not so hard.

You will need:
Flannel material (My fave)
Scissors
Sewing machine
Polester Thread
Measuring tape

Prewash your fabric.

Time to cut. You will need two pieces for each wipe. My pieces are 7x6.5in. Baby wipes can be smaller (4 or 5in) than family cloth (5-7in). It is really whatever you prefer.

Place two pieces together with the pretty side facing in so you see white only. stitch the edges. NOT ALL THE WAY AROUND. leave an inch or two to turn the wipe right side out.
Trim the edges.
Then stitch the gap closed.
Vwaaa la!

To clean up the look you can do an additional single stitch around the edge as well.

Another option:

You can also do a zigzag stitch around the edge if you want to. If you use zigzag stitch you can begin with the pattern facing out and completely sew around the edges. I used this method for my last wipes and they frayed after washing.

To wet the wipes I use a castile soap and water mixture. I fill this spray bottle about an inch with castile soap and the rest water. There are also oils you can add depending on your babies skin sensitivity.
